EDUCATION: I have a Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Health Systems from Georgia Institute of Technology. I also have a second Master’s in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina, and currently pursuing a Certificate of Strategic Management from Harvard University.
CURRENT CAREER: I work as a Director of Labor & Productivity Management for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), specifically out of the North Florida Division, which is located in Tallahassee, FL. I am responsible for managing a combined $860 million labor budget for fourteen hospitals throughout the state of Florida. The favorite part of my work is the one-on-one interactions with the hospital administrators and healthcare clinicians because I am inspired by their dedication to always doing the right thing for our patients.
IF YOU COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Tony Bennett said it best…“I Left My Heart in San Francisco.”
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN? God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.
WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL AND WHY? My parents are very humble folks who believe in having a plan and working your plan. They taught me two important traits: forgiveness and hard-work.
SOMETHING INTERESTING ABOUT YOU: In 2008 I traveled for 10 days with the International Medical Relief team to Argentina, where we provided medical and dental health services to families in rural communities. As part of the trip, I danced the tango in Buenos Aires and saw the beauty of Mt. Aconcagua – the highest mountain in the Americas.
THREE WORDS THAT BEST DESCRIBE YOU: Innovative – always challenging the status quo. Passionate – dedicated to the beliefs and ideals that I hold true. Determined – committed to seeing things through.
CURRENT READ: Because of my work travels, podcasts and audiobooks help me stay connected to news and literature. But when I do have the opportunity, I love reading the printed page. Currently I’m reading three books: “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot, “The Signal and the Noise” by Nate Silver, and “Marley & Me” by John Grogan.
FAVORITE TV SHOW: The cooking show Chopped! My dream is to become a contestant one day.
